Sunday was marked by preliminaries to the BNP PARIBAS Poland Open. We met four tennis players who made it to the main tournament. Two matches were suspended due to lateness.

Among the competitors who still have a chance to qualify is Sara Errani from Italy, No. 5 in the WTA singles ranking, winner of all four Grand Slam tournaments in doubles and former No. 1 in doubles.

The decisive match for the qualification to the main tournament between Errani and Paula Ormaechea was suspended at 6:2, 2:1 for the Italian player. In the second clash, Tena Lukas leads over Rebeka Masarova 6:4. Arianne Hartono, Raluka Serban, Jesika Maleckova and Alexandra Cadantu-Ignatik made it to the main tournament.

No Polish player managed to go through the preliminaries. And yet, we will see five Poles in the main tournament. Besides worldwide No. 1 Iga Świątek, these are the Polish champion Magdalena Fręch and the receivers of the wild cards – Maja Chwalińska, Weronika Falkowska and Martyna Kubka.

Not only singles but also doubles will start on Monday. In the singles, Maja Chwalińska will face the winner of the suspended clash Lukas/Masarova. In doubles, Polish pair Hertel/Kubka will play with Gamiz/Pigossi duo.
